‘I
have something to tell you about the Wave,’ Mr. Ross told his history students
the next day. (p.34)
Mr. Ross is a history teacher at a high school. Although he wants his
students to be interested in his class, they usually don’t study it at all. He
thinks a discipline makes them learn something harder and organizes the Wave.
He makes some rules for the Wave members.
They must say his name and answer quickly in the class. They always have
the Wave’s mark and follows their teacher’s words. Some students are afraid of
the team because it is like the Nazis. If they want to be out of it, they can
never get along with the other students. Mr. Ross is also worried that his
students are misunderstanding the Wave’s purpose and he is starting thinking
about a solution. I think his way of teaching students is the just mind
control. Students tend to think the Wave is greater than the other students and
their teacher is the authorized leader. Sometime disciplines are needed for
teams, but they are too dangerous.
This is Penguin Readers series. When I always choose books, I pay
attention to the outlines, but I think this book’s cover is a little scary and
I wanted to know the reason. Many books are interesting and I feel comfortable
after reading in this series. However, you can feel a little strange after
finishing the book.
