The mermaid became 15 and she was allowed to go to above the sea. Then she fell in love with a prince, but she didn't have legs, not tail. She ask the witch to become the human. She was able to go to land but....

Henry and Mudge and the careful cousin

Today I read Henry and Mudge and the careful cousin, level 2 from Ready to Read series. Henry is a boy who love his dog, Mudge. One day, his cousin Ann visits. She is a careful girl, so she doesn't like dog's drool.  As they play together, they learn to like each other. At last, Ann loved Mudge, too. I think kids can have love and a variety of feelings spending with animals.

Today I read The Lottery Winner, YL 2.0 from Oxford Bookworms series. A old woman liked to buy lottery ticket and she was stolen it by a man. Unfortunately, the ticket had much money. The man was the winner at one day. She got angry about it so they fought in court, but she didn't have any proof and he made his perfect alibi. Can she regain the ticket? Also can he be captured ?

This week

This week I went to go shopping with my family in Saga. I enjoyed it. I bought many foods such as dry fruits, good fishes, meats and so on. I'm looking forward to eating them by myself. I also ate nice yakiniku. I had a good time.

Today I read Goodbye Mr Hollywood, YL 2.0 from Oxford Bookworms series. Nick had a coffee in the cafe. Suddenly, a beautiful girl kissed him. She called the man Mr Hollywood and left. Then he was caught in many strange things. He can be killed by someone. Why did the girl kiss him? Also, why did she call him Mr Hollywood? You can solve the problem, reading this story.

ANNE of Green gables

Today I read ANNE of Green Gables, YL 2.6 from Oxford Bookworms series. I think most Japanese know this story. Marilla and her brother want to adopt a boy orphan to help their farm, but they get Anne. She has red hair and freckles. She like thinking about imagination and studying. Her score in the school is always first. In her life, she learns the importance of the family and grow up the nice adult. I want you to read this book and movie.

Mr bean⭐

Today I read Mr Bean, level 3 from PER.

Mr Bean loves the Queen and the he loves Buckingham Palace! 

He paints his home and it looks the same.  

His making house is wonderful and the Queen would favor if she looked at his house. However, his good house is used to make money by Mrs Wicket. He and she are interesting. I'm sure that you will like this story.

This week

This week I'm going to eat yakiniku with my family. I'm looking forward to doing because I can see my sister, at age 8. I sometimes feel sad when I go home, but I want to try to study hard this week for the event.

Les Miserable

Today I read Le Miserable, YL 2.0 from Oxford Bookworms Library series. Les Miserable is french for unhappy poor people. The novel was written in 1862, and the story has been retold many times in a musical, in the plays for radio and theater, and in more than fifty films for television and cinemas. This story scene is France, 1815. There are many poor people and they are seen as bad people. A poor man,  John is one of the these peole and he escapes the prison. What kind of life does he have ? Jane Eyre

 

Today I read Jane Eyre, YL 2.0 from Macmillan Readers series. Jane was poor woman. Her parents were dead and she didn't have her own house. When she was a child, she went to live at Lowood School for poor children. After eight years, she worked for Mr Rochester as a governess.
The word governess is a woman who teaches to children in the house. Jane spent living with him longer and longer, she wanted to stay with him longer and longer. That is love. Can she get married with him? Also, can she get happy life?
This story is based on the time in England. At that time, there is a large margin between rich people and poor people.

The young king and other stories

Today I read Young king and other stories YL 3.2 from Penguin readers series. This book contains seven stories. Of all them, I will tell you The young king. Although a main boy was so poor, he was took palace.
Surprisingly, he was a king's daughter's son! He became suddenly king of the kingdom. He went to see poor people who wants to have something to eat or drink. He found how hard they were because he was also poor.

Oscar Wilde's book tell us the importance of kindness for others. I want you to read his books to have warm mind.

The Josefina Story Quilt

Today I read The Josefina Story Quilt, level 3 from ICR ICR3. This story is about traveling to the West in America to find better life. Josefina is the name of the hen which is too old to lay eggs. Faith and her family had to move and she took her hen. During the travel, she makes quilts which are full of her remembering and incidents. In those days, a quilt was often the family diary. Many patterns that are still used today, such as the wagon wheel, star over Texas, log cabin, and cactus flower originated from wagon train living.

Alice's Adventure in Wonderland

Today I read Alice's Adventure in Wonderland, YL 2.6 from Oxford Book worms series. I think nobody don't know this story. Alice got lost in Wonderland. There are strange people and things. Also, only people who has strange ideas come there. Alice has conversation with the Caterpillar and the Cheshire Cat, goes to the Hatter's tea party, plays croquet with Queen. To my surprise, she can talk with animals in English! In addition, she has many experiences of becoming bigger or smaller with cakes which says " Eat me." or " Drink me." I wish I could .... This story's author, Lewis Carrol wrote famous Alice's storiesーAlice’s Adventure in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Grass and What Alice Found There. I want you to enjoy his stories.

Today I read Photo of the tall man, YL 3.1 from Penguin Readers series. Kelly came to London to find her job, but it was hard because she failed the exam and she was too young. Also, strange things happened around her. She and her cousin, Adam tried to take pictures for her uncle. Her uncle, Max was a newspaper photographer. He had tried to take pictures of the tall man, but he was injured due to the man.
Can Kelly and Adam take pictures of the man? Also, Can she find her good job? This story was mystery of an accident. I feel it's a little difficult. Let's try reading this if you want to solve the accident!

My Fair Lady

Today I read My Fair Lady, level3 from Penguin Readers series. This story is musical movie and Audry Hepburn acted as Eliza. One day, Higgins, linguist came across Eliza. Her English had a strong London accent. Higgins was interested in her English and made a bet with his friendーwheter he could teach her to speak great lady English or not. He taught her every day and she practiced hard. As she spent speaking great English longer and longer, she became more and more beautiful. He noticed that he needed her. Can he be happy with Eliza? In this story, Audry sang many songs. All of them, I recommend I Could Have Danced All Night. Her clear voice shows a woman's love for someone. I was able to feel Audry's passion for songs, dances. That's musical! I want you to pay attention to their love, listening to her songs.

Tales from the Arabian Night

Today I read Tales from the Arabian Nights, YL2.4 from Penguin Readers series. Do you know about the Arabian Nights in the world history? This story was popular with people at that time and is now. This main character is Sultan Shahriar. He loved his only beautiful wife, but she had many other men as lovers. Sultan got angry and he killed his wife. Then he wanted women as wife and killed them after spending a night. No women wanted to be a Sultan's wife, but Sheherezade didn't. She spent telling interesting story for him and they loved each other without realizing.
Sheherezade's stories were so exciting. All of them, I recommend you The Boy Judge. I'm sure that you will be attracted by her stories.

American Life

Today I read American Life, YL 2.2 from Penguin Readers series. America has many great cultures such as foods, sports, spots, movies and TVs and so on. Size is everything. Hamburgers and hot dogs are bigger than in Japan. People like to eat them. In one year, Americans eat 2,000,000,000 of hot dogs. 60 hot dogs for every person in the country. It's amazing! They have 'American Dream', they can have big house, a big car and a lot of money! So Americans work very hard. In addition, there are many special days called American Days. They celebrate Christmas, dress in funny clothes at Halloween. Many Americans don't work and go to school on Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday. American's life is interesting.

Saga's exposition!

I went to exposition in Saga with my younger sister, 8 years old. We walked there 9 kilometers! First, We took pictures with statue in bronze, walking along the street. My sister remembered the great people in the Meiji Restoration, for example Yoshitake Shima, Tunetami Sano, Shigenobu Okuma and so on. They brought Japan the great revolution.  Second, we had lunch at the restaurant to eat Saga's vegetables.

Finally, we learnt Saga's history and those people. We were impressed at the achievement. 

I want you to learn history in Japan and great people.

Australia and New Zealand

Today I read Australia and New Zealand, YL3.2 from Oxford Bookworms series. How many things you can talk about nice points in Australia and New Zealand? Both of them are warmer than Japan throughout the year, so there are many delicious foods, plants and animals. I think you have heard these things. How about the education? I will talk about education in Australia. There are areas called the outback. Tow-thirds of Australia is outback and there are few shools. Therefore, children have to study in the house. The school of the air is main education. In this plan, their school teachers speak to by radio and send them their work by post. Once a year all the students spend together a week in the big city. They can meet their friends of their own age.

Romeo and Juliet

Today I read Romeo and Juliet, level 3 from Penguin Readers series.
Nobody don't know about the famous love story, written by William Shakespeare. The main characters are Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet. Unfortunately, the two families have been enemies. One day, Romeo and Juliet fell in love at the dance party without recognizing each other. Althogh they think that they mustn't have loved, they loved.  Juliet said, "You're yourself, not a Montague. .... It isn't a hand, or a foot , or an arm, or a face. ...Romeo, throw away that name." I was impressed that Juliet thoght that it wasn't important to protect their names. They want really love and just them.
They got married but they had to decide to separate. In the end, Romeo and Juliet died together because Romeo' s plan to help Juliet wasn't successful. Althogh they couldn't live happily in this world, they could stay together in the future life.

This story tells us not only love but life and death.

The Black Cat and Other Stories

Today I read THE BLACK CAT AND OTHER STORIES, YL 3.2 from Penguin Readers series. This book contained four stories, The Black Cat, The Oval Portrait, Berenice and The Mask of the Red Death. I will tell you about The Black Cat. The main character was evil, he man wasn’t be able to stop drinking. He hit his wife and he cut his black cat, Pluto with knife. At last, he killed it. Originally, he liked animals and his wife also did, so he had a black cat like Pluto again and killed again. He wanted to kill the cat when he saw it. He was ill.  He was afraid of his stupid things and animals. His fear turned into horror because he didn’t notice that he killed his wife unconsciously until cat’s ghost appeared in front of me with his wife full of blood!

I recommend you if you want to be cool!

This is San Francisco

Today I read This is San Francisco, YL 1.2 from Heinemann Guided Readers series.

San Francisco is the center of finance, music and arts in western America. Moreover, we can see the beautiful view over the bay. There are many people from other countries such as China, Japan, Europe and so on. I have heard about Chinatown, but I know about Japantown for the first time when I read this book. Many Japanese people live there and there are a modern Japanese hotel, gardens, bath-house and shops.

I want you to know about redwood trees, the tallest trees in the world. They are more than 91m high! Trees are so tall, so we can feel stay in the fairy story.

We should have our wide view and see, watch and feel about the world!

The royal family

Today I read The royal family, YL3.2 from Penguin Readers series.
This story is the history of royal family. I thought the British royal family was bright and beautiful before I read this book, but I was able to get some information to think about it with different view. The royal family has long and traditional history over the centuries . Althogh the queens and princesses had spent hard time, they wanted to keep  smiling and have strong minds. I want you to take attention to their figures which they wanted to hide at that time.

Now good sign has come.
The other day, Catherine, the wife of Britain's Prince William gave birth to a baby, Prince Louis.

I hope the royal family go higher.

British Life

Today I read British life, YL 3.2 from Penguin Readers series. Do you know about true British life? Do you see beautiful and worth buildings with old history? Many people maybe think that British foods are not good. However, it's not true. There are unique and nice food.
All of them I recommend that you eat pudding and scone. British people like drinking tea and eating them with family and friends. If you want to eat them, you can cook them, seeing the book. In addition, you can know about royal family. As you know, Princess Diana was so famous and is now. I think she was so clever and kind for poor people. She didn't hide her weakness and herself. She has been dead with beauty and popularity. I want you to know her life full of ups and downs.

I'm sure that you're attracted British life and you want to go there when you finish reading it.
